GranitiFiandre will attend the Fuorisalone Milan Design Week with an exceptional partner: the French architect Odile Decq revisits with Maximum an iconic form of architecture
Interni Legacy – the exhibition which for the last 20 years has brought together the best of worldwide architecture and design bringing to life the city of Milan in conjunction with the Salone del Mobile – proposes this year to identify the legacy that the masters of architecture can leave for future generations.
Legacy is the keyword that has inspired the art of designers and architects invited to collaborate with the best of “Made in Italy” to ensure that technology, research and materials of today become a reference for the future.
Protagonist of the 2012 event will be GranitiFiandre which, thanks to the skills of the architect Odile Decq (Studio ODBC) will propose a study on innovative materials of the Maximum collection.
A sequence of white slabs, like a stack of blank paper, gives the inspiration to create an architecture designed to excite and interact with the senses. The architect Decq, using the “contrast” that characterizes the Maximum slabs (an unusually large size combined with a minimum thickness of 6 mm) has created a basic architecture that is renewed thanks to cuts that dig a conical shape inside the solid part.
The architect’s vision is both a vanishing and a focus point. The work of Odile Decq appears geometrically as a cone that opens and leads the viewer’s eye toward the subject. The cone, which is outlined by cutting Maximum slabs in harmonic succession, offers the viewer a vantage point on the subject to which it is aimed. Each slab is therefore transformed into a different perspective level, a three-dimensional scan, which cuts the subject into layers to create a form, giving a new role to the slabs themselves and transforming them from material for floors and walls into moving volume at the same time.
