When architects Haworth Tompkins relocated after over a decade in Kentish Town – the move allowed the studio to combine their main office and nearby satellite office into one new larger space close to the Barbican. The move provided the perfect opportunity to make the new office a showcase of the latest materials and digital infrastructure. Keen to keep to their ethos of reuse, recycle and reduce, many of the original fixtures and fittings were repurposed to make them suitable for the new office. Facilities also include personal lockers, bike storage and shower rooms to encourage sustainable commuting.

Thurrock Borough Council required a bespoke shelter at Quarry Hill Primary School in Grays. They required a shelter to cover the stairway between a classroom and an existing canopy. Manufacturers of the existing canopy were unable to offer a shelter suitable for the application so Autopa’s bespoke canopy provided the ideal solution and within the Councils budget.

In 2012 Qubiqa learned that their nearest local primary school, Sheddingdean School in Burgess Hill, were raising funds to develop a small area of land adjacent to the school to provide a much needed allweather playing field, which will allow the children to play football and outdoor sports all year round. Sika joined the parade of hot air balloons that signalled the start of the world’s largest annual fundraising event on Sunday 17th April.

For the new £5m retail and residential development at Gedling Mission Hall, Southwark, a waterproof and airtight seal for the building’s external facade was of paramount importance. To achieve an impenetrable seal around the many joints and junctions of the windows and facade, Sika Universal Membran from global building product manufacturer Sika, was specified by specialist contractors, Aquatech Contracts.

As part of the £40 million new build Jewish Care Campus in Golders Green, London, architects P+HS, who were commissioned with the detailed design for the design and build project, needed to create an air and watertight envelope. To ensure no condensation or atmospheric penetration formed around the building‘s high performance windows, specialist contractor OCL, working with P+HS, specified the Sika Membran system, a highly effective synthetic rubber sealant from global manufacturer of building materials, Sika, to provide its advanced sealing and waterproofing.
Sikafloor Metaltop Proves Its Toughness At Waste Transfer
Specifying a surface for the construction of a tipping floor at a waste transfer station, specialist contractor Twintec knew that it had to be tough enough to withstand constant heavy vehicle traffic and the mechanical shovels used for pushing, stockpiling and loading more than 95,000 tonnes of waste per year. With toughness in mind, Twintec engineers design for the floor slab included specifying SikaFloor 1 Metaltop from global building product manufacturer Sika.

Thermal Simulation Modelling Underwrites Monodraught’s Success for Tesco
White Young Green's 'Low Carbon Cities and Sustainable Buildings' team (WYG-Future) under the direction of Associate Director, Dr Yianni Spanos, were commissioned by Tesco to carry out a full modelling on the new Tesco Express Store as part of the design process prior to its construction. The modelling and simulation was carried out by a dynamic thermal simulation modelling exercise based on first-principle models of heat transfer processes and the modelling was driven by real weather data.
