Welsh furniture manufacturer Orangebox has relocated its London showroom to 250 City Road.
The internal design team collaborated with Carter Owers Studio to create a showroom that reflects the brand’s focus on people-centric workplaces. The layout allows clients and designers to interact with the furniture, testing combinations and co-creating environments.
The showroom is part of Tiller & Lock, a mixed-use development designed by Foster & Partners.
More than half of the products in the showroom are reconditioned items from Orangebox’s existing range, refurbished through the ReMade programme. This approach is estimated to reduce CO₂e emissions from the showroom’s installation by around 10t.
‘Orangebox has always taken bold steps and the choice of location and creative team who worked to bring our vision of a people-centred space in the heart of a thriving area of London is a testament to our beliefs,’ said David Hay, global managing director, Orangebox. ‘It brings to life the evolution of our narrative as a market leader and showcases a plethora of new products that truly reflect the ways that people are now working, along with the focus on how they are supported and nurtured – putting well-being and comfort at the core.’
‘Taking the showroom from five floors at the previous site [at Northampton Road] to just one floor at Tiller and Lock has enabled us to build a more logical, flow-through customer journey through a series of curated scenarios, each focusing on a different aspect of the furniture and office architecture,’ said Hannah Carter Owers, interior designer, Carter Owers Studio.
‘Orangebox has always championed a more human, intelligent workplace,’ added Sebastian Wrong, creative design director, Orangebox. ‘Rooted in Wales and trusted globally, our products have always been incisively designed and built responsibly. We are so proud of our new London showroom, which really brings that ethos to life – in real time and in partnership with the people shaping tomorrow’s workplaces.’
