Design London Shoreditch, Material Matters, and Beyond Foam are three events scheduled for the London Design Festival, which takes place 13–21 September 2025.
Design London Shoreditch will take place 16-18 September 2025 in East London. The event will feature three exhibition spaces: Design at Work, Design Culture, and House of Icon. Design at Work will focus on workplace innovation at Protein Studios, Design Culture will explore cultural influences on design at Kachette, and House of Icon will showcase interior design at Shoreditch Town Hall.
Ben Evans CBE, director of London Design Festival, commented: ‘London Design Festival has always championed innovation, diversity and the power of design to shape our city. The launch of Design London Shoreditch is a bold and exciting addition to the festival programme, and one that reflects Shoreditch’s position as a vibrant creative hub. With its curated exhibitions across multiple venues, this new initiative underscores London’s role as a global leader in design. I look forward to seeing Design London Shoreditch become a vital platform for both emerging talent and established voices in our community.’
Material Matters will occur 17-20 September 2025 at Space House, a Grade II listed building. The fair will occupy an entire floor and will be divided into three zones: Knowledge, Specification and Experimental. The Knowledge zone will include talks and installations, while Specification will focus on market-ready materials. The Experimental zone will highlight smaller designers and makers.
Beyond Foam will run from 11 September to 1 November 2025 at the Aram Gallery in Covent Garden. This exhibition, curated by research start-up EcoLattice, will present eight emerging UK-based designers using the company’s 3D printed foam replacement. The exhibition aims to address the challenges of conventional polyurethane foam in furniture design.
