The ATC tower has been awarded the ‘Autodesk Hong Kong Building Information Modeling (BIM) Award-2009′. The tower has been designed by architectural firm HOK International.
The tower is 83 meters tall and is estimated to be built over a 1,200 square meter area in the forecourt of the domestic terminals, in the suburb of Santacruz. Its design will provide air traffic controllers with a clear sight.
Four floors of the tower will be used to provide required infrastructure for its functioning. The tower is slated to be complete and fully operational by 2011.
The award also acknowledged the modernization efforts to upgrade aeronautical related facilities at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (CSIA) made by the Mumbai International Airport Ltd’s (MIAL).
The ‘Autodesk Hong Kong Building Information Modeling (BIM) Award-2009’ organized by the Hong Kong-based Autodesk Far East Ltd., recognizes innovations in the building industry.
