As part of an ongoing project for KHPF, the Foundation plans to turn into a public facility. John Bolton, a member of the post office renovation committee, says that the post office will not be used for static displays, but for changing exhibits throughout the year.

The committee has been getting bids for different sections of the renovation, which includes heating and air conditioning, reproducing murals, new restrooms that are ADA compliant, new paint, upgrading electrical systems and lighting, exterior sandblasting and painting and floor refinishing.

The committee expects to start off with construction by mid May and complete it by October 2009. Sue Brown, a member of KHPF, however says that the time frame also depends on cost estimation and the budget allocated to the project.
