The new concourse will incorporate 20 aircraft stands, two hotels, first-class and business-class lounges and duty-free shops in a total area of 528,000 square meters.
The contract comes a week after a consortium of builders, including South Africa’s Murray and Roberts, Australia’s Leighton, Dubai’s Al Habtoor Engineering and Japan’s Takenaka, pulled out of the $1.33 billion contract to build a third concourse at Dubai International Airport after failing to reach an agreement with the Dubai Department of Civil Aviation (DCA).
The project is scheduled to reach completion by mid 2011.
