The new building has a 205-seat courtroom, four lecture halls, five seminar rooms and a whole host of teaching spaces. Once completed, the classrooms will be in the new part of the building, while the library, career services and admissions will reside in the renovated part.
Craig Tiller, senior project manager at the University Architect Office, says that the gates around the archway through the Law School building have been removed, so students can pass from Main Circle to DeBartolo Quad.
According to Tiller, much of the reason for the construction is that the old Law School building was ‘maze-like and had a lot of level changes’. He cites the example of the library having 17 different entrances, and says that the renovation will reduce confusion among students and faculty.
