Joining the Makati Shangri-La and Edsa Shangri-La Hotels in Manila, Philippines, is the Shangri-La Boracay Resort and Spa.

WATG, a Hawaii-based provider of architecture, interiors, landscape design and planning services, has designed the upscale resort, while LTW Design Works, a Singapore-based interior design firm, has designed the interiors of the resort.

Situated in the northern part of Boracay Island, the 219-room resort has 36 villas and suites. The rooms feature ethnic Filipino decor and locally-sourced materials and a balcony that overlooks the beach. The villas feature a day bed for massage and relaxation, a private lap pool, a pergola for outdoor dining and an outdoor shower.

Chi, the signature spa of all Shangri-La Hotels, will also make its debut by March-end. Spread over 6,000 feet, the spa village will provide guests with a ‘spa within a spa’ experience by offering a variety of luxurious treatment suites.

The resort also offers various other amenities such as two outdoor tennis courts, a water sports pavilion, a marine center, an entertainment zone for children and adults and large free-form swimming pools.

Patrons can avail various cuisines at different dining facilities, including Sirena seafood restaurant situated on a cliff top with sea view; Rima, a hilltop fine dining restaurant for northern Italian cuisine, and Solana Sunset Bar, where customers can relax in cabanas.

For special occasions such as weddings, the resort has banqueting and meeting facilities, including an outdoor, oceanfront wedding pavilion.

Madhu Rao, Shangri-La’s chief executive officer and managing director, said that the company was in an expansion mode, with another Shangri-La Hotel that just opened in Tokyo, taking up the network to 62 hotels across the world. “We have one single vision, which is to lift Shangri-La to a global level,” he says.

Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts, an upscale hotel group in Asia-Pacific, supervises and owns 62 hotels under the mid-market Traders and upscale Shangri-La brands.
