Construction work on the project, tendered under the Frameworks Scotland program, is slated to begin in April 2010 and is expected to be completed three years thereafter.
The Dumfries Royal Infirmary Hospital redevelopment project commissioned by NHS Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland, will be the first in Scotland to feature 100% single bedroom accommodation and will entirely make over the existing building.
Kieren Morgan, health development director, Nightingale Associates said, “The design of this hospital needs to set a benchmark for future developments and to set new standards in healthcare design.”
The hospital will include a 200-bed ward block and modern 23 hour ambulatory care and outpatient facilities as well as improved intensive care, emergency care and support accommodation.
Nightingale Associates will work on the interior design and landscaping of the project, and Tribal’s health planners will work with clinicians to finalise the clinical brief and project scope, support stakeholder engagement in the design process, and deliver a successful business case.
