Located on the holy River Ganges, Varanasi is one of the major pilgrimage sites in India, and a major tourist attraction with world renowned ‘ghats’ and temples.
Located 2km from the airport, and 10km from the main city’s sacred aura, secular vitality, palaces and temples, the 117-room U Grand Varanasi Hotel will feature 700 square meters of event space, three restaurants and bars, a spa, fitness center, and a historic library.
Costing approximately $12 million, the U Grand Varanasi will be a member of U Hotels and Resorts group. Construction is slated to begin in October 2009 and is expected to be complete by the third quarter of 2011.
Mohit Kamboj, director of KBJ Group Mumbai, India, said that this is the first hotel development of KBJ Group, adding that they plan four more hotels within three years.
