The award winners of this year include remodeling designs completed between January 1, 2008 and May 23, 2009. Awards were announced and presented at a ceremony on October 27, 2009 at the Remodeling Show in Indianapolis.
The entries were judged on aesthetic appeal, construction techniques, handling of challenging situations, attention to detail, functionality of the remodeled space, financial/budgetary success and the overall impression of the finished project.
AZ-based TriLite Builders, Chandler remodeled Majestic Hills master bath. The bathroom that was overtly pink and poorly lit was asked to be transformed into a spa-like space, with all the necessities attached. Elimination of the attached steps was another major requirement of the project. Giallo Santo granite and opalescent glass tile design in the area behind the tub resembling a waterfall is the highlight of the design. The outdated shower was replaced by a new rain showerhead that gives the spa-like feel. Fixtures from Grohe’s Allure collection and dual china sinks from Xylem were added too. The bulky soffits above the tub/shower area and the vanity were replaced.
The previously designed arches over the bath were an inspiration to the designer to have more of them beginning from the master bedroom into the adjoining office. The poorly lit bath had been given a calmer ambiance with the help of indirect lighting placed behind the tub. The vanity area was upgraded by hiding the electrical outlets inside the cabinets. Mirrors from all three sides of the bathroom were removed revealing a lot of space. A new 11 inch wall had been built to which a new closet had been added measuring 170 square feet, twice as much as the previous one.
The project was completed with $ 2000 less than the anticipated amount. For this designer bathroom, the TriLite Builders were awarded the Gold award.
