Replacing ‘Cha’, the former restaurant of Donovan, which served only sushi and drinks since early 2009, ‘Zentan’ will function under Susur Lee, chef of Shang in New York’s Thompson LES Hotel.
Designed by Studio Gaia, the lobby-level restaurant with a capacity to seat 100 to 120 diners, is accented with purples, dark woods, a sushi bar and large communal table. The menu will feature dishes such as Singapore-style slaw, chickpea onion rings and Cantonese marinated skirt steak.
‘Above DC’, the rooftop lounge of the restaurant, will serve food and drinks from mid 2009 and is set to add to the list of other rooftop-branded bars in the Thompson chain’s hotels.
Jason Pomeranc, co-owner of the hotel and Zentan, says that the hotel will also send ‘ADC’ cards to locals. ‘ADC’ cards provide elevator access to the visitors to come up and frequent the roof, which has limited space.
