The Glamorgan Record Office is relocating from Cathays Park to Leckwith in South Wales and is to resolve shortage of space.

Eastlake’s commercial interiors arm (ECI) won the project and work will begin in 2009. ECI will be responsible for designing and supplying new furniture for the brand new 4,500 square meter facility. It will also be responsible for creating a reception desk, laboratory furniture as well as providing desking and seating elements.

The facility will create stability in terms of temperature and humidity to preserve the records and also reduce the need for air conditioning. It will also feature a conference space, a public ‘searchroom’ and a modern paper conservation studio.

David Pellegrini, programme director at the Glamorgan Record Office said, “The involvement of eci in the interior design and fit-out will bring a fresh and vibrant interface with the public, as well as providing GRO staff with modern functional furniture, chosen for its cost, design and flexibility.”
