Home to the Canadian Football League’s (CFL) BC Lions, BC Place is a multipurpose stadium and the venue for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the 2010 Winter Olympic Games.

The NanaWall SL25 movable windows are custom-made large opening glass window walls with no vertical stile for a completely unobstructed view, open or closed. The SL25 are installed in the renovated press room and 55 sky boxes and luxury suites at the stadium.

The press room at the stadium features nine large opening glass NanaWalls. They are open completely during the ceremonies for better filming. After the ceremonies, the NanaWall can close to provide a weather-resistant seal to protect equipment. The NanaWall windows in the press room range from 8 feet wide to 17 feet wide.

Canadian architectural design company Cannon Design Architecture has selected NanaWall SL25 Window Wall system as it offers a clean and subtle appearance, along with incorporating a well-engineered operating system that fully opens. NanaWall SL25 has helped the firm to fulfill one of the project goals which was a fully operable glazing system that offers a seamless separation between the suites and the stadium.

With no vertical stile to offer unobstructed views, NanaWall SL25 has some other characteristics such as: no auxiliary track support is needed as all structural loads are within the plane of the opening; provides a barrier against weather and noise; ease of operation to quickly open or close wide openings; sequence of unlimited widths and flexibility to fully or partially open; long-term ease of operation with hardware adjustment features; and available in more than 200 colors to match any team or event color scheme.

The NanaWall is now used in 100 stadiums worldwide, including the New York Yankees Stadium, New York Mets Citi Field, Philadelphia Eagles Lincoln Financial Stadium, Philadelphia Citizens Bank Park, Autzen Stadium at the University of Oregon and Boise State University Bronco Stadium.

A major renovation worth $365 million is underway at the stadium, including seat replacement, renovations to washrooms and concessions, and the replacement of the Teflon covering with a new retractable roof. These major renovations are being done in two phases. The new retractable roof for the stadium will be completed in 2011.
