The field expansion at Robinson Park and related improvements marked the conclusion of the first phase of the Robinson Park Master Plan. The project included upgrades to the original seven-acre park and the additional 2.5-acre parcel. The first regulation-size football field with synthetic turf and soccer field at any Pasadena park to its credit, Robinson Park now features enlarged baseball diamonds, an electronic scoreboard, a pool, a concession stand, bleachers and upgraded convenience facilities.
Phase two of the Robinson Park Master Plan includes demolishing the existing recreation and gymnasium buildings. These will be replaced by a new recreation center designed to be the centerpiece of the park. The overall cost is estimated to be $21.7 million.
Robinson Park is named in honor of Olympian Mack Robinson and his younger brother Jackie and the entire Robinson family.
