The school is not only painted in green but is also following the green standards as part of the renovation project. Ashley Ramsey and Ralph Egolf, the demolition company working on the school’s project has been recycling everything that it has been tearing down, starting from the metal elements to the ceiling tiles.
Ramsey, Hustontown, and his business partner Egolf, Mercersburg, started the green demolition process in October 2009. The company started work at JBHS on January 11, 2010 and is to work through August 2011. Work is now underway inside the building with bathrooms and classrooms demolished and ceiling tiles removed.
The school major overhaul has been a result of a number of problems that the school’s building had been facing such as a faulty with infrastructure, heating and ventilation, plumbing and cosmetic issues. The school’s drinking water has been made cleaner than before, and improvements have been made to the school’s athletic campus.
Principal Benedick stated that the work being done at JBHS is more of a renovation project than an expansion, with nearly everything staying in the same place after the upgrades. He also said that ramps are being installed as part of the project to help accommodate students with physical disabilities.
