The project is worth $45 million and features seven aircraft gates, a 500-seat holding area, new restrooms, and a mini-food court with concessions.
Plans also include the installation of a mural on the parking decks facing Interstate 95 at the airport. The 5,000 square meter mural incorporates photographic work designed by artist Jacques-Jean Tizou, which would be produced over the next 18 months and is scheduled to be dedicated in June 2011.
The project costs a sum of $225,000 and is funded by the airport, the Parking Authority, US Airways, and Bank of America.
The project, ‘How Philly Moves’ would be employing 35 artists and is set to welcome guests from all over the world to the City of Brotherly Love. The top of the decks of the airport parking garages would feature a diverse range of luminous dancing figures.
