Yankee Stadium is the New York Yankees’ new stadium in Bronx, New York. It replaced the previous 1923-built Yankee Stadium. As part of the new Yankee Stadium project, New York City is providing the South Bronx with state-of-the-art recreational facilities. It is striving to keep its promise to replace every inch of parkland displaced by the construction of the new Yankee Stadium, besides providing additional usable recreational space.

With community input on the design and joint effort of City Hall, EDC and Parks, New York City is building four new parks featuring high-quality recreational facilities: three championship-quality grass ball fields, an all-weather soccer and football field surrounded by a 400-meter competition-quality track, four basketball courts, eight handball courts, a skate park, a playground, fitness equipment and a waterfront esplanade linking a picnic area, play area, tennis center and 16 tennis courts along the Harlem River.

The plan aims to preserve meaningful, recognizable and symbolic elements of the historic Yankee Stadium. The approved design proposal includes signage, benches, engraved plaques with historical narrative, viewfinders that allow participants to glimpse past events and an audio tour. The scheme does not include any elements of Gate 2, the only entrance gate that was relatively unaltered during the 1974-75 modernization.
