The new 9,400 square feet arrival and departure area will house a display dedicated to the airport’s World War II lineage. Previously the airport had small display cases showcasing memorabilia from the training base era, and it has now been improved and expanded.

The airport is constructing a new gating area which is designed like a modern version of a 1940s era hangar. After completing the gating area, a three-walled historic display will be installed. This will offer ample space for photographs, airplane models, military uniforms and other artifacts from the airport’s World War II roots.

The new gating area will feature two gates and separate exit in order to simplify customer flow. More bathrooms and vending machines for passengers that have passed through security and are waiting to board will be featured. More skylights, an elevator and an expanded view of the runways will be added to the mezzanine in the current lobby area.

The airport is built on the site of the Pocatello Army Airfield, a World War II training base. Many of the base facilities have been razed, although four large hangars remain.
