The terminal will feature a spacious hall-atrium, advanced baggage handling system and a 1950s-style restaurant. The terminal will be served by air-bridges, in order to assist passengers to get from the departure room directly to the aircraft. The new airport complex spanning 20,000 square meters, is designed to handle 650 passengers per hour.
The new terminal has been planned as an infrastructural improvement project for the final tournament of UEFA European Football Championship, which will be hosted by Poland and Ukraine on June 8 and July 1, 2012.
The construction of the new terminal is currently 70% complete. According to Ukraine’s Vice Premier Borys Kolesnikov, the terminal is scheduled to begin operations in the last quarter of 2010.
