The project features a series of smart and mobile cubes, each of which have a specific micro-architectural language to transform the photo studios. Each cube is a prototype designed for a specific function: hair/make-up, styling, production, entrance. Each cube is an aesthetic proposal : corten and plywood, folding plain steel, Braille perforated steel, plywood and books. Each cube is an intimate and narrative space within the wide-open spaces of the various photo studios.

The hair and make-up cube has been made of 3mm micro-perforated steel. The perforations are graphic, functional and narrative. They create a slight transparency that conveys a sense of mystery to the scene inside the cube. Apart from preserving privacy of the individual, these perforated cubes also provide air circulation. One of the most alluring features of this cube is that it features famous photographers’ quotes cut out of steel in Braille alphabet.

Production cube number one is a plywood massive block that seems to have been carved to display photo books within its walls. Designed for the production team attending the shooting, this cube is mobile and flexible.

The third amongst these cubes is the styling cube which is a mobile and folding cube made out of 3mm steel. As such, it is a minimal looking styling cabin and has multiple opened out configurations. It gets dressed by the clothing and accessories of the shooting, and eventually becomes a part of the set.

Production cube # 02 tends to suggest a shift in the indoor–outdoor perception through its aesthetic and functionality. Covered by oak’s strips, this mobile cube is designed for the production team.

37.2 is a micro-architecture atelier / studio. Its production and research are centered on the relational potential of space.
