The facility is designed to house 400 students in suite-style rooms. The design has been evolved in accordance with UNCG’s strategic housing plan, featuring a living-learning community with classroom, seminar space as well as offices for faculty. The ground floor will feature a retail space. Wireless service will be provided in all the student rooms.
The facility is designed to achieve Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) – Silver rating from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). The energy-efficient building is expected to save 30% of energy. The new hall is scheduled to be unveiled in August 2011.
UNCG will also renovate the seven 1920s Classical Revival halls that make up the Quad. The Quad renovation will begin in May 2011.
