With the introduction of the new cocoon concept room, Hotel Formula 1 Pretoria has become the firm’s third fully renovated ‘cocoon’ concept hotel in South Africa.
The new rooms feature soft colors, round shapes and lighting to offer a soothing ambience. The soft and minimal design complements the name ‘cocoon’. The renovated hotel also features a new reception and breakfast area.
The concept rooms are designed by incorporating environmental and sustainable principles. The rooms feature water-efficient showers and water-saving toilets. Energy-efficient lighting fixtures and variable refrigerant volume air-conditioning systems are installed across the hotel.
Accor is planning to implement the cocoon design room concept to the entire Formula 1 hotel network, which will be renovated over the next five years. The cocoon concept design received the Best Interior Design award at the 2008 European Hotel Design Awards and was recently awarded the Business Janus title.
Hotel Formula 1 is an international chain of ‘no frills’ hotels owned by the French multinational corporation Accor Group. There are 380 hotels in 13 countries.
