Currently, WMC is expanding the south side of the campus. The need for more space for both inpatient and outpatient surgical services necessitated the expansion plan. WMC also required more room in the Family Practice Clinic to accommodate their growing physician and employee base. Additional office space was another requirement.
The expansion scheme will create a new state-of-art surgery center on the main floor of the addition, with three new operating rooms (OR) and 13 outpatient surgery bays. The full basement underneath will be dedicated for the use of materials department, and an education and conference center and doctor’s lounges are also included. The provision for a second floor is also created for future needs. A brand new in-house MRI unit will also be created as part of the expansion project. There will be five OR’s and one room for colonoscopies.
An additional Labor/Delivery/Recovery/Postpartum Room will be added to the Maternity Center, which will bring it to four total rooms. The Business Office has been shifted to the lower level of the existing facility. This relocation has offered more room behind the current Family Practice Clinic Patient Registration for additional exam rooms and doctors offices. The existing Outpatient Surgery area will be converted into expanded Specialty Clinic rooms which will more than double that space.
According to WMC, the new construction will take a year to reach completion, while the phase two renovation will be a six month project.
