The high school, which was founded in 1897, is undergoing the stated upgrade as part of the school district’s plan to provide a standard in the quality of the educational services.

Construction on the high school would take place in two phases, starting October 2010. The expansion project planned for the school would add 131,000 square feet of new space to the campus. A new competition gym, practice gyms, kitchen, cafeteria, band hall and fine arts classrooms will be housed in this new space.

Phase two of the expansion would see the addition of 90,000 square feet space, which would house administration offices, classrooms and a new library. About 69,000 square feet space of existing classrooms would undergo renovation.

The school would function normally while construction is in progress. To ensure onsite safety and reduce the impact of construction on school activities especially during the second phase, the team will take special precautions, such as working off-hours to perform higher risk activities.

Construction is scheduled to reach completion by August 2012.
