The 93,000 square feet L building on the Sanford/Lake Mary campus, the Seminole State’s first and largest campus, will undergo renovation as part of a $14.1 million project that also includes the remodeling of an adjacent office suite at Building F.

The project will be carried out in a phased manner, with the first phase expected to be completed by late 2011. Florida-based HuntonBrady Architects is leading the renovation project in association with construction group Wharton-Smith.

The 1970-opened three-story building will undergo extensive renovation and space reconfiguration. Special focus will be on natural lighting, by incorporating a glass curtain wall and an atrium with skylights. Sustainable design elements will also be integrated such as, a system that will collect reclaimed water for irrigation.

The project is targeting Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).
