Masterminded by local entrepreneur Mike Forbes, and designed by London-based architectural practice Archial, The Angus will feature an international competition-standard 18-hole championship golf course endorsed by Ryder Cup legend Darren Clarke alongside a five-star hotel with spa and holiday lodges, and a golf youth academy. Mike Forbes is the owner of the Forbes of Kingennie Country Resort.

The residential segment will consist of 160 properties which will include luxury fairway-side villas along with mainstream and affordable housing linked to the adjacent village of Wellbank.

According to Derek Reid, director at Archial, the masterplan has been conceived in such a way as to fully realise the potential of the location. He added that the new scheme will offer a sustainable long-term world class golfing and leisure tourist destination.

The new development follows the success of the existing Forbes of Kingennie Country Resort. The resort comprises a nine-hole golf course, putting greens and extensive fishing ponds. Four-star self-catering accommodation is provided in 12 woodland lodges, with dining facilities and a function suite at the Kingennie Country House.

An exclusive luxury housing development, Kingennie Fields, which has also been delivered by an Archial-led team and has won a string of design awards, including the Luxury House of the Year in the 2010 Scottish Home Awards, lies adjacent to the site.
