Spanning 6,000 square feet, the Village Kitchen will be built at the water-edge of the Olympic village. The restaurant will be designed as eclectic with a sense of timelessness. The interior of the 150-seat Village Kitchen will incorporate recycled timbers and rubber and would feature front-row seats to the seawall and False Creek.

Village Kitchen will also exhibit Canadian and local art collection such as pencil crayon pieces and sculptures of Douglas Coupland. Brent Comber’s woodwork, a Peter Kiss wood sculpture and Pat O’Hara painting will adorn the interiors.

Village Kitchen will be built to green LEED standards. Water conservation systems will be implemented in the kitchen and bathroom. The ultraviolet hood system will break down and trap 99% of the grease emissions into the environment. Take-out containers will be biodegradable and compostable as in all the other locations of Frankel.
