AirMaster carpet from Desso has been incorporated in corridors and bedrooms to provide the best-possible interior air quality. The new carpet is designed to reduce the amount of dust and particulate matter floating in the air.
Independent tests were carried out by GUI, the German test institute, based on AirMaster’ performance against standard PVC hard flooring and standard structured loop pile carpet. According to the tests, AirMaster was found to be eight times more effective in capturing and retaining fine dust than hard flooring, and four times more effective than standard carpeting.
Most environmental research into sport and indoor air quality has focused on sports arenas, particularly ice rinks and swimming pools. This is the first time that AirMaster has been used in a sports facility with the carpet already in use at multiple markets such as hospitals, schools and offices. AirMaster was launched in 2010.
The newly-opened KIA Speed Skating Academy houses 35 athletes. It will accept speed skaters from around the world and is housed in a converted hospital in Inzell.
