The new structure incorporates a 300-seat theatre, sports and fitness centre, health and beauty centre as well as an indoor shooting range. Also included are twin boarding houses with a capacity to accommodate about 100 students. The houses are expected to be ready by 2011 end, after which sports pitches will be built.
Plans for the new academy include development of different sections for formal as well as informal learning. It will be designed so as to respond to the micro-climate while maximising natural ventilation levels. It will also adhere to a natural approach by using sustainable timber to construct the central hub area, which connects performing arts, business & enterprise, science and design & technology sections.
The new academy is expected to accommodate about 1,100 students. Construction work on the academy is scheduled for completion within 2011 end.
