The Central Municipal Pool or Bubble in Cape Girardeau was in a dilapidated condition necessitating the renovation. The authorities of the pool undertook the $1 million renovation project to revive the pool to desired standards and be operational all around the year.

The revamping project encompassed addition of a new bubble (for enveloping the pool in winter from chilly air) and air-handling units, repainting of the pool, resurfacing of the deck and installation of new furnishings and diving boards along with new fencing. The project also repaired the wading pool.

The bathhouse of the pool was also upgraded and now has a new walk-in area, and refurbished dressing rooms with new light fixtures. The bathhouse has been supplemented with a family changing room. The locker rooms with new showers now offer more privacy to the guests.

The expenses for the renovation project were mostly paid using park tax money. Almost half of the funding came from school district and $6000 was donated by the Gators team for painting the main pool area.
