The project has been designed by Alley Poyner Macchietto architecture firm. The facility, spanning about 20,000 square feet, will be equipped with new furniture pieces, and energy-saving lighting fixtures post renovations. The revamped building will also comprise a new centralised service desk, computer labs, a pair of group study rooms, a teen room as well as an expanded children’s unit.
The refurbished library will be adorned in new carpet, and circular acoustical panels in the ceilings which will reduce noise transfer. It will also don comfortable seating facilities comprising access to outlets and laptop tables while receiving fresh coats of paint. The community conference room of the building will undergo an overhaul and will be fitted with several windows to allow natural light penetration. The facility will further sport a new roof, and new climate control system following the makeover and will remodel its parking space.
The project has been financed via the city’s capital improvement programme.
