Construction work on the project commenced in early December 2011. Work involves overhaul of both the exterior and the interior of the building as well as construction of additional clinic area spanning 8,600 square feet. The expansion will raise the number of exam rooms in the clinic from 17 to 25. It will also lead to creation of more spacious waiting rooms.
There will also be creation of a training classroom, additional office space as well as extra parking area as part of the expansion. Plans are further on to expand existing services such as X-ray and laboratory area. The size of the centre is slated to increase from its current 15,500 square feet to nearly 24,000 square feet following the expansion.
The present expansion project is being financed via $2.4 million in federal capital development grants. Work is scheduled to be completed within one year.
