The project will offer a makeover to its current facilities. The revamped facility will incorporate a contemporary front of house, backstage, exhibition as well as catering facilities. The property will also sport additional performance space following the makeover.

The theatre will now don a remodelled historic  auditorium and a home for work with the community and young people. In addition, the design of the renovated facility will allow better accessibility.

The project is estimated at a total cost of £4.5 million ($7.2 million). An amount of £2 million ($3.2 million) has already been provided from Arts Council England. Work is due to commence by 2013 with the renovated facility slated to open by October 2014.
