Construction of the Study Cube forms part of the $16.8 million renovation of the University’s Morgan Library. The revamp work, which started in March 2011, is being carried out in 12 phases. The entire project is due to be over by July 2012.
The new cube features entryways from the east and west and offers Wi-Fi access. It has been fitted with study tables and lounge seating which have a capacity to accommodate about 85.
The floors of the cube are heated while its windows incorporate photometric glass. Installation of the glass enables the windows to darken on the basis of outside light levels. The roof of the cube has been equipped with solar panels.
