The project involved restoration of the interiors of the palace to its former grandeur. The project has added new gardens, shop, café and terrace to the pristine palace. Mansell has added new elements to the palace, without compromising on the historical integrity. The company has built loggia on the eastern façade of the building, which now serves as the new visitor entrance.

A key part of the renovation was the conversion of the State Apartments into a theatre, which will reveal the secret lives of some of England’s most interesting monarchs from the Houses of Stuart and Hanover.

The construction team has re-used about 20 tonnes of excavated sand as bricks for the construction of an extension that includes cafes and shops. Additional work involves installation of water feature near Queen Victoria’s statue and improvements to the landscape of the place.

Where ever possible Mansell has reused the original flooring, doors and ironmongery. Most of the stone removed during renovation and more than 1,700 tonnes of topsoil was reused on site or relocated to Kensington Gardens.
