Under the terms of the contract, the company will build an environmentally conscious shopping centre, dubbed as Fornebu Centre, at Fornebu in Oslo. It has been designed by AMB Architects.
The shopping centre will be a two-tier building, which will have a total area of 25 000 square meters. The Forneby Centre will be home to around 80 shops, 900 parking spaces as well as restaurants and health care spaces.
The contract also involves construction of other facilities, which consist of a 36,000 square meter garage, 2,500 square meters of office space and 78-apartments, spread over four residential blocks. Furthermore, 2,000 square meters of solar panels will be built on the roof.
The project will be constructed using natural materials consisting of untreated wood, light granite and stone. These materials will assist the new shopping centre to merge with the architecture of the surrounding landscape.
Construction on the scheme will be undertaken to cause minimal disturbance to the natural environment, and prevent air emissions (noise, dust), water and light pollution. The project will embrace a host of sustainable practices, based on which it is being targeted for BREEAM NOR Outstanding certification, which is considered to be highest level for sustainability.
Construction on the project will start in September 2012 with the shopping centre expected to be completed in September 2014. The apartments will be completed in March 2015.
