Staged in multiple phases, the project involves development of homes and other public utility facilities. The phase I of the development involves development of 1,120 dwellings, as well as a primary school, a doctor’s surgery and retail centre.

The phase I of the project involves 328 new affordable housing units. All the homes in the new community will be built to level 3 of the Code for Sustainable Homes. They will feature eco-friendly district heating and hot water system, which will be powered by biomass fuel.

The project also involves development of a community building, a country park, new bus and cycle lanes, a new train station and major road improvements.

The developers have been supported by a £15.6 million ($24.39 million) investment from the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA). These homes will be taken over by Sovereign. The first homes for DCH will be delivered in early 2013.
