Designed by the US-based design practice c|a ARCHITECTS, the project involves conversion of the second and third floor of an administration building into a 65,000 square feet of dedicated cancer treatment centre.
The project also involves construction of a two-storey, 1,913-square-feet lobby addition. The new light-filled lobby will act as the entrance to the new pavilion which will also accommodate a new Ambulatory Infusion Center.
The design of the MemorialCare Todd Cancer Institute Pavilion will have a healing environment. The reception spaces and treatment areas will feature stone and wood interiors, which will create a warm and calm setting for the place.
c|a ARCHITECTS has used glass curtain wall complemented by structural steel, plaster and stone finishes as the exterior facade of the building. The spacious Ambulatory Infusion Center will have a patient oriented environment, which is suited for chemotherapy treatment. The Ambulatory Infusion Center will grant access to a rooftop healing garden.
The other facilities at the building will consist of examination room, mammography and consult rooms, pharmacy as well as office space. The entire facility will be enveloped by landscaped garden, which will be developed by Cummings Curley & Associates Incorporated.
The new facility will consolidate cancer programs and cancer support services at one location. It will house various cancer programs and support services. The pavilion will be dedicated to the early diagnosis, treatment, research and education of patients with cancer or serious blood disorders. The new facility offer latest cancer treatment technology.
McCarthy is currently demolishing parts of the existing building. The new pavilion is scheduled to open by mid-2013.
