Located at 810 W Stacy Rd in Allen, the location marks the chain’s first new ground-up redesign and features a more dynamic and inviting atmosphere to enhance the overall guest experience. The design has been inspired from the minimalist architecture of Mexican architects Ricardo Legorreta and Luis Barragan, and marks a departure from previous restaurant locations.

The restaurant features decorative metal ‘estrella’ lights that hang from the ceiling, while ‘papel picado’ (cut paper flags symbolising a Mexican celebration) accents fashioned from laser-cut metal add a festive flair to the mix. String lights have been extended from outside on the patio into the dining room in an attempt to break the plane of the building. It also brings the patio experience indoors.

Large street-life photos from the heart of Mexico adorn the walls, echoing Taco Cabana’s focus on bringing authentic, contemporary Mexican cuisine to its guests. San Antonio photographer Rick Hunter has attempted to change the common American perception of Mexico by capturing behind-the-scenes glimpses of true Mexican culture.

The restaurant is resonant with a cleaner and simplified design, and balanced with splashes of bold colour and modern rectangular shapes. It also features a redesigned patio with bi-fold doors, which enhances the perception of bringing the outside in. Landscaping, featuring cacti in geometric linear designs adds to the ambiance and offers a relaxing contrast to the city.
