Sprawling over 26-hectare, the new Bispebjerg hospital will consist of 121,000 square metre of new build and 96,000 square metre of renovated existing building. The design of the winning consortium relates to the historic orientation of the building and the surrounding landscape.
The pipeline hospital will consist of four different quarters, with each quarter boasting a distinctive character. The plan also incorporates green and recreational areas. The designers have also paid attention to traffic solution, which makes the place accessible and easily orientated within the site.
The project aims at protecting the heritage-listed pavilions of the existing Bispebjerg hospital. The plan includes development of a spacious park in the centre of the development, which will preserve the historic pavilion. Construction on the scheme is scheduled to begin in early 2014 and is slated for completion by late 2015.
