Sprawling over approximately nine acres at 745 Blanding Blvd, off of Blanding Boulevard in Orange Park, the new Homer J. Sr. & Fern O. Custead Care Center is among the five freestanding hospice inpatient facilities operated by Haven. The facility will provide services such as inpatient palliative and end of life care; respite care support for families and caregivers; and grief support.
The facility has an area of 20,000 square feet and accommodates 18 private inpatient rooms and a non-denominational chapel for memorial services, prayer and meditation. The facility also includes a large community room in the administrative building that can be used to host events and meetings by local groups and organisations.
The new centre is designed to take inpatient hospice care to a new level. The design has connected outdoors and integrated the surrounding natural environment, which has saved more than 80% of the specimen trees on the nine acre property.
The Custead Care Center was also built to the Florida Department of Emergency Management’s standards for a Special Needs Shelter and can withstand the impact of a Category three hurricane.
