Adorned with fabrics and prints, the design of the handcrafted lampshades are drawn from Servomuto’s own archive, which dates back over 50 years. Old bedside lamps, dusty chandeliers and lamp covers from ‘grandma’s house’ are reconfigured to suit modern day environments. The final structure is then dressed with unusual fabrics or prints often using odd trimmings, salvaged material, old army blankets and velvet theatre curtains, highlighting a final design that has been referred to as ‘good things of bad taste.’
Servomuto brings together handcrafted lampshades with unexpected fabrics and prints, transforming them into something new. Servomuto also collaborates with innovative artists commissioning innovative and provocative images that are then screen-printed onto fabric.
The lampshades will be available exclusively in the UK from Animali Domestici, the London-based 20th & 21st Century Italian furniture, lighting and arts objects showroom in Brixton.
Servomuto’lampshades will be showcased in the Interiors Section of 100% Design at stand L361.
