Morgan furniture collaborated with designers, ID:SR, to understand and interpret the brief that would deliver original style and lasting quality to over 2,300 BBC employees. Morgan’s bespoke service was also requested to create furniture designs.

Q5, the top floor of Quay House within MediaCityUK, features the Morgan designs. With large windows commanding panoramic views over Manchester and Salford, this floor integrates a mix of office and soft seating meeting areas. It also features a version of the Boston table, designed by Morgan in response to the customer brief to provide a surface for laptops. The table is a light timber frame with a cantilever design that overhangs the seat and is at a suitable height for laptop use. This is used throughout the space with a combination of armchairs and sofas encouraging mobile working.

Ribb sofas with higher backs are positioned in U-shaped groups facing the windows to make the most of the natural light and outside views and events. A single-seater Ribb chair with higher back enhances the privacy to make an ideal telephone chair or location for a private conversation.

In Q5, colourful, inviting, modular seats with staggered height backs have been designed and developed to form a large curved sofa in an amphitheatre style area used for flexible presentations and screenings.

The Seville wing chair from Morgan has been chosen for meeting and break-out areas. A modern take on a traditional armchair, this winged chair makes a versatile and timeless choice for any interior design scheme. Upholstered in cool greys with contrasting striped cushions, they offer a sophisticated but relaxed contrast to the more formal seating areas.

Hampton modular arrangements in contemporary fabrics with colourful back-button details are positioned throughout the BBC buildings as comfortable, informal meeting areas. The Hampton collection of chairs and sofas feature a contemporary profile with detailing.

The balconies of the offices are adorned with the Soho collection featuring two-seater sofas and lounge chairs. The balconies provide views of all five storeys till the ground floor of Quay House. A chic appearance, with echoes of 50s and 60s design, Soho has a visually inviting shape with softened corners and without the harsh lines.

With phased delivery over several months, Morgan worked closely with procurement company, Phusei, to deliver furniture for all three BBC North buildings.
