Custom-designed and independently supported, the air curtain has been installed to stand above the glass revolving entrance door of the Novotel London Paddington Hotel. The air curtain has been installed to balance the heating requirement within the main foyer of the hotel. The specifically tailored Rotowind air curtain is supported by ‘goalpost’ legs.

The air curtain complements the glass facade of the building and does not hamper the modern aesthetics of the hotel. Rotowind air curtain acts as a low-speed fan, forcing a mass of cold air into a room with each rotation. The Rotowind combination with a revolving door system prevents cold air from entering the foyer.

The curved air outlets of Rotowind has been tailored to the size of revolving door to provide a tight seal across an entrance. JS Air Curtains devised a new mounting scheme for the air curtain, wherein the legs of the air-curtain were fixed to the floor at the side of the entrance that supported the air curtain independently without the aid of the glass revolving door.

The Rotowind features aluminium profiles and zinc plated steel panels and nozzle. Though available in a variety of hues, the air-curtain is normally finished in RAL 9016 structural epoxy-polyester. The low noise centrifugal double inlet fans are powered by an external rotor motor with built-in thermal protection. The fan has five speed selection.
