The Civic Centre has not undergone any major improvements, since it was built in 1977. The renovation will improve the three street entrances and reconfigure the loading bay on Center Street. It will also create new suites within the arena.
The renovation will involve increasing the floor area by 45,213 square feet through improvements to the entrances, concourse, restrooms and other parts of the facility. Upon completion, the buildings will have expanded nearly 40,000 square feet between the entry way improvements, the corner suites and the locker rooms.
The renovation project will be undertaken in two phases with the first phase to run through February 2013 and the second phase to run through September 2013.
