Headed by ONG&ONG’s Experience Design studio OX:D, the new design concept will be applied to the Singapore Airlines’ SilverKris lounges. Customer engagement would be a key part of the design process and will involve a mix of customers from the conceptualisation to the testing and evaluation of prototypes.
Giving importance to the ‘home away from home’ theme, the new design concept aims at providing an inviting and exclusive contemporary space. Integrating the ground and air travel experience, the new lounges expect to meet the changing needs and expectations of both business and leisure travellers.
The work on the new design concept of the Airlines’ lounges will start from the middle of 2013. The SilverKris Lounge at Sydney Airport will be the first to be fitted out with the new design concept. The SilverKris Lounge at Melbourne Airport is currently undergoing expansion and renovation. Upon completion, the improvements will offer more seating arrangements as well as a new dining area.
Singapore Airlines has 15 SilverKris Lounges at airports around the world, which includes new lounges at Seoul and Delhi airports. The Seoul lounge is slated for completion at Incheon International Airport by the end of 2012 while Delhi lounge will be officially unveiled in September 2012.
