The renovation will transform the 49-year-old building into a “luxury” hotel, which will give an updated look to its guest and meeting rooms. It will also add a new restaurant and lounge.
Post renovation, all the guest rooms will feature plasma television, high-speed Internet, a “jack pack” system, a mini refrigerator, and a laptop safe. The hotel’s current restaurant, Nic’s on Nicollet, and bar, Martini bar, will be replaced by a new restaurant and bar. The building’s heating and cooling system will also be replaced.
The renovation will be finished on 163 of its 321 guest rooms and 90% of its 22,000 square feet of meeting and public space, before the hotel opens on 1 April 2013. Construction on the remaining hotel rooms and meeting space will be completed by mid-June 2013. The hotel’s porte-cochère, the protruding structure at the front entrance will receive a facelift after the entire interior renovation work is complete.
