The project will expand the footage of the original hospital to reach 521,000 square feet. The new building will have 150 patient rooms, which will consist of 146 private rooms. Other facilities at the building will consist of specialised operating rooms, which will increase number of operating suites in the hospital to seven; including two that will have the latest MRI and angiography imaging equipment.
The building will incorporate the latest medical technology. The patients’ rooms will be bright and have spacious layout, which has been specifically designed to accommodate the young patients, along with their family members. The rooms will be complete with en-suite shower facility and will have fold-out double beds, built-in closets, large flat-screen TVs and smaller monitors just for visitors, an in-room nurse workstation and a sink by the door for hand washing.
The new building will have quiet waiting areas, and age-appropriate playrooms centralised meeting rooms, medical supplies storage space, outdoor break areas just for staff, and onsite locker rooms and showers. The entire facility will be enveloped by more than 3.5 acres of gardens and landscaping.
The green credentials of the new hospital building will consist of on-site water collection and storage, wind turbines to generate green power and energy-efficient lighting.
The hospital is scheduled to open in 2016.
